There aren’t a lot of activities over the Summer in the Coachella Valley, but for those who stay over, there are a few things that get even better.
The Living Desert, in Palm Desert, has always been the best bargain in the Valley for those that enjoy a morning hike in a desert landscape. Membership is fairly inexpensive starting at $119 per year for individuals and $289 per year for a family of four. That family price equals the amount you would pay for two visits.
Every June, The Living Desert changes to Summer hours, 7:00am to 1:30pm. 7am at the Living Desert is a favorite with Members. It is the coolest time of day, and the quietest time of day throughout the Park. It’s also feeding time for many of the animals, and the keepers have time to chat with Members.
They have recently added a Walking Club for members, so they have a choice of walking alone or joining a group.
Currently, the biggest attraction is two young bobcats that have taken over the bobcat area that was sadly left empty with the passing away of Crawler, one of the most beloved residents of the Living Desert.

David and JoAnn are brother and sister, and were brought to the zoo from Oregon. The siblings were found in a box on a driveway near Springfield and Eugene. Officials with The Living Desert are unsure who took them, where they were found originally or where their mother is. (KESQ)
Many more things to see, of course. The Living Desert is a place to bring your camera and the kids.
