One of the many things things people miss when coming to Palm Desert from Los Angeles is the International diversity of shops, stores and restaurants. In my case, it was all things Japanese. We had ten different Ramen shops to choose from. We could choose Mitsuwa or Nijiya for groceries.
…and then there was Daiso. Very hard to describe.

Daiso is a Japanese Home Goods and Dollar Store all rolled together. One can spend hours wandering and finding new and interesting things. It is especially good for the kids, full of stuffed animals, Sanrio bowls and backpacks, and all sorts of Japanese snacks.
Now Daiso is coming to La Quinta! They will have a Grand Opening on July 19 & 20 at their new location, 78870 Highway 111 (111 & Adams). Whether you can make it that weekend, or anytime afterwards, you should definitely give it a look.
