Make Desert Breezes Committees Great Again!

One of the great things about an HOA is the Committee system. While each Board Member may not be an expert in Landscaping or Finance, they have the ability to seek out that expertise in their Committee Volunteers.

Board Members who take on a Committee are taking on a lot of work, and the Committee can help keep things manageable.

Sadly, this system has fallen by the wayside over the last year. A quick glance at the Committee Minutes section on Townsq shows that the last updated minutes from a Committee were in January of 2024. I know that some homeowners have been doing work in Committees over the last year, but the system seems broken.

Cancelled! Meet The Candidates!

Desert Breezes Community members,

The decision has been made to cancel the private candidates’ forum scheduled for 2/19/2025 in an attempt to allow the Election Committee the opportunity to convene and reach out to all the candidates and properly schedule an official forum to ensure a fair election as mandated by our CC&Rs and approved Election Committee Charter, dated 8/19/2024.

The Casas Board Election has been electrified by the candidacy of two extraordinary homeowners. They bring the kind of expertise and experience that’s been lacking in the last year. The Editorial Board of Desert Breezes News would like to welcome Valerie Liautaud-Watkins and Janet McKnight as candidates for the Desert Breezes Casas Board.

One of the cheapest hobbies in the world is Bird Watching…until you spend thousands flying to Alaska to add a stray seabird to your Life List.

We are fortunate to live in an area where many bird species live year around, and many more visit during migration season.

CONFUSED?

Is the current Casa’s HOA President confused or is he trying to confuse the community?

Is he confused that HE was on the prior board that upon being informed that there was a HUD lien, decided to move forward with the foreclosure sale anyway?

Is he confused that it was HIS board that decided to record the foreclosure?

Is he confused that HE was the only board member to vote against getting legal advice after the HOA foreclosed?

Is he confused about how many times he repeats old grievances?

Proposed revisions to Parking Rules and Regulations

Ian de la Roche would like to share with you his perspective on the recently proposed changes to the parking rules and regulations. Ian is a former Board Member and served five years on the Compliance Committee.

December 5 – Healthy Living for Brain and Body

To help people age well, the Alzheimer’s Association is offering a free presentation for the Desert Breezes Community. “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research” is a workshop that covers four areas of lifestyle habits that are associated with healthy aging.

November 27 – Fraud Prevention

Many of us have had the unfortunate opportunity to either witness a loved one become a victim of a scam, or fall prey to a common scam. Predators these days are using a number of increasingly technologically advanced ways to target people’s finances and identities.
