Tennis – Desert Breezes

There has been a consistent group of tennis enthusiasts at Desert Breezes for many years. During the season (October through June), they add Sunday mornings, and play from 7:30am to 9:30am.

Desert Breezes Tai Chi

Tai Chi was first offered in Desert Breezes during the Covid shutdown of tennis and the gym. It was a popular choice for an older crowd, not physically taxing but meant to improve balance and stability.

Coachella Valley offers a few choices for Tai Chi including Sunnylands every Saturday and the Joslyn Center three days a week. These are good programs and the Joslyn Center classes are geared towards older adults.

What sets Desert Breezes Tai Chi apart is:

  • It’s completely free
  • No need to travel, we’re already here
  • It is progressive. You can move from the simple movements to more advanced forms.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

A message from our departing Board Members: Jill Callahan Knoff & Ian Delaroche.

A message from our departing Board Members:

It’s been a privilege and honor to serve the community as a board member alongside our colleagues on this and last year’s board. They have all served selflessly. We learned a lot! One of the most important things we learned is what serving means and how everyone plays a role. Here are ways we can ALL serve beyond the obvious volunteering for the board or a committee. Here’s our top ten list:

  1. Be kind – it multiplies and comes back to you
  2. Give Grace – no one is perfect, we are all doing our best
  3. Listen with an open mind
  4. Respect one another – even when you disagree
  5. Educate yourself from reliable resources– assuming only adds to confusion and misinformation
  6. Comply with the rules
  7. Be flexible and adaptable; change is constant
  8. Lift one another up
  9. Offer solutions – not demands
  10. Focus on the positive – it’s contagious!

In conclusion, we are better together when we serve one another. How will you serve?
